How to get to OnCampus Sunderland
An airport pick-up service can be a good option for a convenient transport method straight to your destination. A driver will meet you at the airport and transport you to either the OnCampus Sunderland centre or to your accommodation, whichever you prefer.
The cost for the transfer will vary depending on your chosen destination airport and campus.
The address for OnCampus Sunderland is: OnCampus Sunderland, 3rd Floor, The Reg Vardy Centre, Sir Tom Cowie Campus, St Peter's Way, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, SR6 0DD
OnCampus have identified one of the many providers you can use for your taxi transfer:
Station Taxis is Sunderland's longest established taxi company, tracing their history back to 1901. The company prides itself on providing customers with a safe, reliable transfer service. Operated by trained, professional drivers and offering fast and efficient service, their drivers will get to your destination safely, securely and on time. The drivers have an excellent knowledge of the city and surrounding area, and you can either book in advance or find a car at the taxi rank at the airport.
You can access Station Taxis' website and begin the booking process here.
Airports are busy places so, when completing your taxi booking online, we recommend choosing a longer wait time if possible. This will allow you ample time to exit the plane, clear passport control and collect your luggage. If you do get through quicker than expected, you can make use of the airport's Wi-Fi, food and drink vendors and toilets. You can also call your driver and let them know you are ready and they may be able to arrive quicker than the agreed pick-up time. The taxi companies will track your flight and will be aware of any delays. After completing your booking, you will receive a confirmation from the taxi company which will include details of where to meet your taxi driver upon arrival.
If the airport you are flying into is not listed, or you are arriving into the UK another way and need some advice, please contact us at [email protected] and we can assist you.
Sunderland is serviced by the Metro, connecting the city to the airport. Metro tickets can be purchased from the Metro station as needed and a single ticket to zones A, B and C will allow students to travel to the University of Sunderland.
St Peter's is the Metro station closest to the OnCampus Sunderland office and accommodation based at Dundas Street and Roker Avenue. For the City Campus of the University of Sunderland, students should get off at the University Metro stop. Millfield or Pallion Metro stations are best for The Forge U Student Village.
Please note that the Metro is not a 24 hour service. More information can be found on the Metro website.
The University operates a free campus bus available to staff and students. The Campus circular route stops at the Halls of Residences and Ashburne House as well as City and St. Peters Campuses.
