OnCampus Southampton Celebrates New Centre Opening

OnCampus celebrates the opening of a new Centre in partnership with the University of Southampton
OnCampus Southampton opened its new teaching Centre on Monday the 4th of October, marking the latest addition to Cambridge Education Group’s OnCampus pathways portfolio, which has partnerships with 28 leading universities across mainland UK, Europe, and the U.S.
The centre is based in Southampton, only a short walk from the University of Southampton’s main Highfield Campus, and offers international students the opportunity to begin their studies in the UK. Southampton is a city rich in history and culture but with a young, vibrant demographic providing plenty of activities and opportunities for students. Being a founding member of the prestigious Russell Group, Southampton has built a reputation for outstanding global research, state-of-the-art facilities, and excellent student support.
The University of Southampton has established itself as a leading UK and global university having recently been ranked within the Top 15 in the UK and ranked 77th in the world (Complete University Guide, 2022; QS World University Rankings, 2022). Southampton has excelled at achieving a high quality of teaching and research, which is due to the extraordinary facilities offered to students, along with the expertise and hard work of the staff, academics and students. Southampton is ranked 1st in the UK for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2nd in the UK for Music and 4th in the UK for Civil Engineering (Guardian University Guide, 2022).
The University of Southampton prides itself on preparing students for a truly global career. There are numerous opportunities for students to gain valuable critical thinking, independence and employability skills alongside their highly ranked degree. These include the excellent industrial placements, international competitions and the Future Worlds start-up accelerator which will help students stand out from other graduates. The award winning Careers and Employability service will also support students throughout their studies.

Professor Mark E. Smith, President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Southampton, says:
“This partnership will ensure our global student community continues to grow, sustainably, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The increased breadth of the programmes these students will progress onto, as well as the diversity of countries our students come from, will continue to strengthen our dynamic University community.”
“In developing tailored curricula with CEG, we have created foundation programmes that result in a recognisable ‘University of Southampton Experience’ from the very first day of enrolment here at the centre, that will continue through their time with us.”

David Johnstone, co-CEO of Cambridge Education Group, says:
“it’s fantastic to see so many colleagues and new friends at our brand new ONCAMPUS Southampton centre … we have established a strong relationship with our Southampton colleagues in academic faculties, admissions, finance, recruitment and marketing, and compliance … Our synergy has been genuine and constructive.”
“We are all incredibly excited by the potential of this partnership and by the opportunity to support intellectually curious and ambitious international students in their educational journey at Southampton.“

From September 2021, international students have the opportunity to progress from OnCampus Southampton to the University of Southampton in subjects ranging from Engineering, Business, Humanities and Art and Design.
